What is more safety? Windows 7 or Vista?
Chester Wisniewski of Sophos claims that Windows 7 is more vulnerable to attack than Windows Vista. All the other default UAC settings.
User Account Control (UAC) is one of these mechanisms, which most users complaining about Vista. In the default settings because it required the user to an excessive number of confirmations to have the surgery. Therefore, Microsoft dropped the default security level UAC in Windows 7We wanted to see how effective it is UAC in Windows 7 So we took 10 samples of malicious code and tried it – says Wisniewski. Wgrano malicious code on a clean Windows 7, and then running as a user would have done it encouraged criminals to install a malicious file. Of the 10 samples of two is not launched at all, probably because they are designed to attack the much more popular Windows XP and Windows Vista. Of the remaining eight run only one triggered a security alert UAC.
Wisniewski acknowledges that conducted the test does not say anything about the security of Windows 7 He had only to check on how your computer is protected by the UAC when malware has already miss antivirus software, firewalls and protection mechanisms implemented in the operating system, such as DEP and ASLR.
Wisniewski, therefore repeated advice that could be heard already – users of Windows 7 UAC should include a higher level of security. If the mechanism will be disturbed by them, may it all off without too much damage to security.
